What is nose ring turning green?

When a nose ring turns green, it is usually a sign of a reaction between the metal of the ring and the oils and acids in the skin. This reaction can cause a greenish tint or discoloration on the ring.

This can happen with certain metals such as copper, brass, and some types of gold, as they contain a higher level of copper or other alloys that react with the skin's acidity.

Apart from this, other factors like exposure to water, sweat, and certain chemicals like perfumes or lotions can also lead to green discoloration.

To avoid this issue, one can opt for rings made of hypoallergenic metals such as sterling silver, titanium or surgical-grade stainless steel. Another way to prevent this is by keeping the ring clean and dry, wiping it often with a soft cloth.
